Waiting on Wednesday (17)

Waiting on Wednesday is so graciously hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine!
This week's pick is...
Elixir
Synopsis:
As the daughter of a renowned surgeon and a prominent Washington D.C. politician, Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life. And though she dreads the paparazzi who track her every move, she herself is a talented photojournalist who takes refuge in a career that allows her to travel to the most exotic parts of the world.
But after Clea’s father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, eerie, shadowy images of a strange and beautiful young man begin to appear in Clea’s photos—a man she has never seen in her life.
When Clea suddenly encounters this man in person she is stunned—and feels an immediate and powerful connection. As they grow closer, they are drawn deep into the mystery behind her father’s disappearance and discover the centuries-old truth behind their intense bond.
Torn by a dangerous love triangle and haunted by a powerful secret that holds their fate, together they race against time to unravel their past in order to save their future—and their lives.
My Thoughts:
First of all: Hilary Duff? When I first saw this book, I definitely double-checked to see if it was, in fact, the Hilary Duff. Which it is. After realizing this, I was pleasantly surprised. Celebrities tend to go for fiction stories based very loosely on/inspired by their on lives.  I love that she's going totally left field from that for the most part. The plot seems really interesting. There seems to be a lot of things going on in the novel, which could make for a great roller-coaster of a read. Plus, the cover? Fabulous. It's kind of mysterious, which could go really well with the story. I'm definitely intrigued!

i was definitely intrigued when i found out this was by hilary duff as well! i never imagined her as the writer type, and i thought that if she were to venture into the writing industry, she's write some semi-autobiographical book about a young celebrity (like nicole richie and lauren conrad did). it's nice that she didn't though. i can't wait to read it :) great choice!

Thanks for sharing this one. I'm a bit hesitant since I'm not really liking Hilary right now, but hopefully this isn't like her newer movies she's tried to make.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's Hilary Duff, but on the other... it sounds quite interesting. Definitely surprising for a celebrity novel.

Thanks for commenting, guys! I'll admit I'm a bit hesitant as well- celebrities turned author don't usually fit with me. However, the plot sounds great, so I have high hopes!
